EL YUNQUE, Puerto Rico ⏤ Invasive species are threatening the native animals and beautiful habitats of Puerto Rico, especially the Puerto Rican parrot, the island’s most precious and endangered bird. The public is unaware of the harm they cause to the island from buying wildlife from the mainland. These animals, once released into the wild, negatively affect the island’s ecosystem. This documentary takes a closer look at the effects of the wildlife trafficking of invasive species and local conservation efforts to preserve Puerto Rico’s natural habitats.
